KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken

Franchise Concept: Fast-food chicken restaurant
Actively seeking Franchisee's in: All US Regions, Canada, Worldwide

KFC Franchise Opportunities

By now, the story is well known. Kentucky Fried Chicken began in 1939 when Colonel Harland Sanders first made his delicious chicken available to the public. This was in Louisville, Kentucky, and the Original Kentucky Fried chicken was made by a secret recipe of eleven herbs and spiced. Although that was nearly 70 years ago, customers today are still baffled by the delicious flavor that has been preserved throughout the years. Indeed, his legacy has become world famous to millions of customers who frequent Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants to either sit down and eat or drive through and take home all varieties of chicken, cold slaw, mashed potatoes, and steaming hot biscuits.

Part of the ingenious strategy of this international corporation is its ability to franchise and thereby have its foods adapted to local customs. For example, while the classic chicken pot pie might be enjoyed by rural Midwest customers, a Japanese patron will enjoy a salmon fillet at his or her local KFC restaurant. In fact, the number of adapted menu varieties closes in on 300, making this is a large part of the reason why KFC is able to bring in almost 8 million customers worldwide on a daily basis. Boasting 11,000 restaurants in the United States and in 80 different countries around the world, KFC is a subsidiary of Yum!, which is the owner of Taco Bell, Long John Silver\'s and Pizza Hut. One interesting and recent innovation within the United States has been to combine these restaurants by two or more at a time in order to centralize the accessibility of a variety of savory options and thereby increase the level of shoppers\' convenience, one of the pillars of the fast food industry. Indeed, this seems to keep in step with Colonel Sanders\' vision back in his day that KFC should be able to provide busy families with \"Sunday dinner, seven days a week.\"

Fortunately for prospective franchisees seeking KFC as a possible option, the number of stores is consistently growing throughout the world. As seen by the increase in stores from the year 2000 through to the year 2004, the number of US franchises rose by nearly 1,000, while the amount of foreign franchises experienced an increase of nearly 1,500. Indeed, the opportunities for franchising are ample throughout the company, but before seriously committing to a franchise plan with KFC, it will be important to learn a little bit about the process of buying a franchise from Yum! Essentially, prospective franchisees for KFC should demonstrate the willingness as well as the ability to develop three successful store units within three years. This, of course, must be backed up by the necessary capital it takes for running three operations. Although no specific figures are available at the moment, it is necessary to contact the company for their requirements on how much liquid assets are needed as well as up front cash. In addition to the resources, prospective franchisees should show that they have plenty of experience in the business of managing people and building up the employee base needed to smoothly run a KFC franchise.
