MaidPro Franchises Cleaning Up In More Ways Than One

The lack of inventory costs, large franchise fees and long hours attract entrepreneurs to a growing industry that remains largely untapped

MaidPro, which was established after another maid service accidentally locked the founder's cat 'Foof' in the bathroom, has grown into a national cleaning company with more than 60 franchise locations in 24 states.

When it comes to the cost of opening a MaidPro franchise, the fee may surprise you. Because franchise owners are not selling or creating a product, but rather offering a service, there is no inventory to purchase and no retail center to construct. With little overhead and increasing demand, the path to profitability may be a step away.

MaidPro franchisees can expect to pay a minimum investment of $60,000, which includes a $7,900 franchise fee, an additional territory fee, creating an office presence, advertising, payroll and similar expenditures. Compared to a typical house cleaning franchise investment of $90,000, MaidPro is considerably more affordable for both the first-time and conservative investor.

Following the initial request for information and a brief discussion, potential franchise owners will be invited to tour the MaidPro headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to meeting with MaidPro personnel, investors will tour the facility, review various software and marketing materials and have their first opportunity to get an inside look at the MaidPro system. Because only those who are considered to be a good match for the company are actually invited for the tour, MaidPro will reimburse invited guests up to $250.00 for their travel expenses.

Although MaidPro was established in 1991, the company admits to having remained at a size that allows them to work closely with new franchise owners. With quality over quantity, MaidPro is more focused on helping a few large franchises succeed over having a large number of struggling businesses. In addition to marketing support and materials, each franchisee will have the freedom of purchasing supplies directly from wholesalers or from any other source of choice. According to MaidPro, "There is a variety of support such as over the phone, through e-mail, our Intranet or in person at our office."
